Foundation
Bünte & Remmler emerged from the Wagner & Goldschmidt Company located in Frankfurt in 1880. As a petroleum lamp manufacturer BuR evolved into a famous producer of first-class „lamps“ in Germany around the turn of the century. In 1962 BuR was sold to Hoffmeister & Sohn KG. BuR manufactured sophisticated luminaire programs in Frankfurt and afterwards in Lüdenscheid.
- 1880 Foundation of the Bünte & Remmler luminaire factory
- 1890 Start of production of petroleum burners, brass parts and airflow lamps
- 1899 Production of gas lighting fixtures and gaslight burners
- 1912 BuR was more and more recognised as a leading German manufacturer of lighting fixtures and luminaire parts.
- 1913 Before World War I BuR was famous being one of the largest German luminaire manufacturers with 600 employees at this time
- 1925 In the 20s designs of Christian Dell and Wolfgang Tümpel were realised by BuR
- 1944 Extensive destruction of the factory site by bombs and mines
- 1950 Reconstruction and modernisation of the factory buildings in Frankfurt
- 1953 Taking over high-quality luminaire designs from the BAG Bronzewarenfabrik Turgi in Switzerland
- 1962 Retirement of the senior partners - Mr Bünte and Mr Remmler because of their old age
- 1962 Acquisition of the Company by Hoffmeister & Sohn in Lüdenscheid
- 1967 Lamp shades and more outdoor luminaires were included in the BuR luminaire program
- 1971 Transfer of the BuR luminaire production to Hoffmeister & Sohn from Frankfurt to Lüdenscheid
- 1972 Real estate management became increasingly the main business of the Bünte und Remmler KG
- 2016 The Lighting Business is focused on the energy efficient LED-Lighting of industrial companies
- 2020 The LED-Lighting Business is extended by the marketing of UV-C disinfection equipment
